On Sunday, March 10, at 5 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time* (EDT), we have an ultra-dreamy, uber hopeful New Moon occurring at 20 degrees of Pisces. Pisces moons usher in heightened intuition, emotional perceptivity, fantasy, and uninhibited imagination, while simultaneously dissolving barriers between the collective consciousness and the self. If there were ever a time to stop striving and relinquish our very human need for control – and instead let the Universe do the heavy lifting for us – this is it.
Unlike the more grounded Earth signs (we’re looking at you, Capricorn and Virgo), who ask us to craft carefully detailed plans and precise strategies that inch us toward our goals, Pisces prefers that we be trusting co-creators of our own realities, allowing the imagination to flow in any direction it wishes before ultimately honing in on what it wants to bring into reality. Then, it asks that we use our connection to the Divine to magnetize that new reality towards us. The Law of Attraction is very much based on Piscean themes.
The bottom line with this New Moon ...
Like the fish that represent this month’s archetype, go with the flow. Give yourself plenty of time to reflect over the next couple of days and engage with both your inner and outer worlds with a sense of wonder. Let yourself dream. Imagine what’s possible. No fantasy is too grand to entertain right now. In fact, Pisces dares you to dream it. It dares you to believe that this thing, or the joy it brings you, is possible – even if the culture would have you think otherwise.
One caveat here: Pisces energy, in excess, can sometimes lead to confusion, escapism of all sorts, and the tendency to get lost in excessive daydreaming. If you start to feel out of balance with all the fluid energy swirling around you, a grounding activity such as walking in nature, working in the garden, or cooking can help you keep your metaphorical feet on the ground and stay connected to the present moment.
New beginnings lie ahead.
As the last lunation of the astrological year, Pisces New Moons always signal a time to recharge our batteries and begin thinking about what’s next. This New Moon is no different, and it brings with it additional indicators that change and new growth are on the horizon – including the Vernal Equinox, or first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring just nine days into the cycle, and our first lunar eclipse of the year, which will take place on March 25. This will officially mark the beginning of eclipse season and offer us a chance to recalibrate our most significant relationships (due to this eclipse taking place in Libra). But more on that in the Full Moon newsletter later this month! For now, if you want more information about how this eclipse will impact you personally, and where it’s likely to show up in your life, look to the Libra-ruled house of your chart.
Transits that may impact the energy of the New Moon
The Pisces New Moon will be forming two planetary aspects worth noting. The first is a friendly sextile with our unconventional, unpredictable, and rebellious friend, Uranus, at 19 degrees of Taurus. Uranus doesn’t like restrictions, and it will push the boundaries of what’s possible – so there is extra support, here, if your goals or intentions for this month feel a bit lofty or intangible. This planet also likes to shake things up and propel us out of our comfort zones in order to advance progress. Be prepared for lightbulb moments, unanticipated connections, and sudden changes that serve to pivot you toward healing, greater well-being, and new growth.
The second aspect is an applying conjunction with Neptune, the planetary ruler of Pisces and, therefore, the New Moon itself. With Neptune at 27 degrees of Pisces, the conjunction isn’t a super tight one, but it does seem likely that this will throw even more dreaminess, fantasy, and ethereal energy into the mix (but there’s also additional healing potential). Again, the grounding activities just discussed may be helpful if you start to feel out of balance.
Tips for working with Pisces energy to manifest your wishes, goals, and intentions
The best manifestation strategies for this cycle involve using creative and spiritual practices that tap into the divine, Piscean energy available. Pisces is an intuitive, emotional, feeling sign, so try favoring the right side of your brain over the left at least some of the time. Daydream, and let your mind wander as you imagine new possibilities for your life and define what you want. Once you have clarity, you’ll want to begin doing things that conjure the feeling – both physical and emotional – that you’re hoping this goal will ultimately produce. And feeling really is the key word, here, as Pisces manifests from the heart, rather than the head. Here are some practices that can help:
Use visualization exercises. Spend time – just a few minutes each day – visualizing yourself having what it is that you want in great detail. Imagine your surroundings: what they look like, feel like, smell like, etc. What’s the temperature where you are in this fantasy? What’s the mood around you? What are you wearing and how does the fabric feel against your skin? What is the expression on your face and those of others? What are the details of the thing, opportunity, or circumstance that you desire? Who is with you? And most importantly, how do you feel now that you have it? Conjure that feeling to the best of your ability. Then, conjure gratitude for it also.
Create art that bring your ideas to life. You can get creative here, and it doesn’t have to be pretty! Draw your goals. Paint them. Sculpt them with clay. Act them out, as if in a play, when no one is watching. You might feel odd doing this. But remember, the goal is to take an idea and bring it into the physical world – with feeling!
Sing about your goals, wishes, and intentions. Seriously. Make up a song about what you want, and sing your desires and intentions out loud. (Tip: you can use the melody of a song you already know, and like, and simply add your own words. You do not need to be a poet or lyricist to do this.)
Write in a journal. Create an entry about your goals for this lunar cycle. This can be similar to the visualization exercise, but done in writing. It could also be a list with a lot of extra detail and emotion included. Or, you could even write about your desired outcome as if it were a story.
Practice prayer or meditation. Keep your connection with the Universe open and ongoing.
Any other creative or generative exercise that comes to mind! See where that Pisces imagination takes you!
Finally, have faith. Trust the Universe to bring you what you need in divine time.
Your Personal New Moon Forecast
Note: You will feel the effects of this New Moon even more strongly than others if you have natal chart placements that form aspects with it. Check out your natal chart, and look for planets or angles between 15 and 25 degrees of water signs or mutable signs.
Aries Rising
As an Aries rising, you have a natal chart that is always perfectly aligned with the astrological year – in other words, your chart begins where the year begins (in Aries). And just like the world itself, you are now wrapping a 12-month-long lunation cycle that’s walked you through every house in your natal chart. With the Pisces New Moon in your 12th house of spirituality, solitude, and completion, now is the time to take stock of where you’ve been and reflect on your journey over the past year. Make time to sit with your thoughts and feel all the feels – though, admittedly, doing so without taking action can be tough for Aries risings. If restlessness starts to get the best of you, it may help to commit to a spiritual practice that involves more doing – such as journaling, yoga, nature walks, art, or anything that increases awareness of your intuition and helps you process your experiences. Remaining gentle with yourself will help you prepare for the rigors that will inevitably come up starting next month when the moon embarks on its next trip through your chart – beginning with your first house of self. Want an additional option to pursue if you need more action this month? Having 12th-house themes in the spotlight could draw you toward activities requiring an extra dose of care, compassion, higher service, or empathy, especially with all the Pisces energy up for grabs.
Taurus Rising
With the New Moon taking place in your 11th house of friendship, group activities, and community, be sure to avoid keeping all those big dreams and whimsical musings solely to yourself. Instead, share them far and wide (with people you trust, of course) and ask for help or advice when you need it. More than anyone else, you have the potential benefit from the support – be that intellectual, emotional, monetary, or circumstantial – of others in the coming weeks. You may even find yourself dreaming up plans on behalf of your social circles or using your imagination to improve the experiences of the collective (especially with the sextile to Uranus forming an aspect with your first house, impacting how people view you). Might you decide to plan a group vacation, perhaps? A first-annual neighborhood block party so that everyone on your street can finally get to know one another? A community garden that creates more access to fresh food and helps everyone cut down on the cost of groceries? The sky really is the limit with this placement, so let your imagination go wild. A final note: the 11th house is also considered the house of hopes and dreams, so this month is like a metaphorical birthday candle for you. Spend some time now considering what it is you really wish for – not what you think you should wish for, but what you really want. Imagine it in detail. Feel it. Feel, in your heart and in your body, what that feels like. Then wish for it!
Gemini Rising
This New Moon is transiting your 10th house of career and public image, so this lunar cycle may signal the beginning of a new professional cycle for you. Consider reassessing your long-term career goals and clarifying what you really want in this area of your life, as well as whether what you’re currently doing (or how you’re doing it) makes your spirit soar. What is it that you really want to be creating and/or putting out into the world? Does it put you into a state of flow and make you feel more connected to source or your authentic self? How does the arch of your career align with your life, your wellness, and who you are at your core? Consider how it benefits the collective or makes a contribution to your team and/or your people. Or, perhaps there is some expertise you’ve wanted to dive into and really master. If so, now might be the time to begin. It might be time to level up in some way, and you can take those first steps, even if small, right now. Take a cue from flowy Pisces and see what comes up for examination or experimentation in the coming weeks. Then, trust the process.
Cancer Rising
This cycle will not be boring! With the New Moon occurring in your ninth house of exploration, long-distance travel, philosophy, education, and beliefs, you’ll be looking to expand your literal and metaphorical horizons. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself getting the itch to start planning a big vacation this month, even if it doesn’t actually take place for some time. It might even be to someplace you hadn’t considered going before! Then again, “travel” could, alternatively, manifest as internal exploration, in which case you may find yourself drawn toward a new area of study, taking classes, or even going back to school. And, because this is the Pisces New Moon we’re talking about, don’t be surprised if your new area of interest just happens to tap into your creative, cultural, or spiritual potential. Art, music, performance, the healing arts, or spiritual practices, like meditation or even astrology, are all on the table now. Whatever new themes you take on, now is not the time to get stuck dealing with the minutiae of daily life. It’s newness you crave! Feed it by focusing on the big picture of life and the meaning of your time here.
Leo Rising
This New Moon heralds new beginnings for everyone, but for Leo risings this could be doubly true, as it will occur in your eighth house of personal transformation. You may feel the need for deep introspection this month as you reflect on who you want to become once spring arrives and we enter a new year. For some, this could involve unearthing subconscious patterns and beliefs that have been preventing you from pursuing your most precious dreams. If you find yourself in this position, a supportive and qualified therapist, counselor, coach, or mentor could be of great assistance as you dive in and get to the bottom of things. The eighth house is also the house of intimacy and shared resources, so you could – alternatively – wind up looking at issues pertaining sex, how you give and receive love, how you show up in your closest relationships (and how your relationships show up for you), or how money and material resources flow between you and other people. If the transformation you foresee could be bolstered through stronger financing, the energy may be on your side when locating and applying for grants, awards, and loans. This month is also a great time to do your taxes. (Glamorous, right?)
Virgo Rising
This lunar cycle is all about relationships, with the New Moon occurring in your seventh house of partnership. If you’re single, and you’d like a romantic partnership, this is the time to carefully consider (and then imagine) the type of partner – and the type of partnership – that you really desire. You may find that what you thought you wanted – or what you were conditioned to want – when you were younger no longer applies. It’s also possible that you may find yourself drawn toward a new relationship that is a little out-of-the-box for you, or a person who is unconventional or not typically your “type,” especially with the New Moon forming a sextile with Uranus in your ninth house of beliefs and world views. If you’re already in a relationship, consider using this time to view the partnership in a new light or breath fresh life into it. This is a lovely time, for example, to address long-standing issues and find new solutions to them. You can look at what’s working and not working and begin to take different actions. Alternatively, if you’re in a relationship that doesn’t match who you are at a core level, this energy may ask you to let it go.
Libra Rising
Over the next few weeks, your personal wellness is up for review with this New Moon taking place in your sixth house of health and routines. Now is a great time to consider whether there are lifestyle adjustments that can help you create more well-being and flow in your life, both physically and emotionally. Good possibilities to look at could include dietary choices, meal patterns, workout routines, sleep hygiene (Pisces loves sleep and dreaming), exploring new healing modalities, or essentially anything that builds your resilience. Opportunities for you to improve mental health may also come up now, especially as both the sun and moon join with Neptune in the days to come. Building new daily practices that work on the body, mind, and spirit together could be particularly fruitful with this energy, so it’s a great time to build a mindfulness or meditation practice, start a gratitude journal, keep a dream diary, take daily nature walks, or engage in art, music, or dance as therapy. Any changes you make now are far more likely to stick, so just focus on setting the habit. Alternatively, this is also the house of work, employment, and schedules. Pisces doesn’t love rigidity, so Pisces here may ask you to look at how you’re spending your days and assess whether you’re making time and space for the dreamier, more creative, and mysterious parts of yourself.
Scorpio Rising
Scorpio energy can be beautifully, poignantly, gloriously intense at times. But with the New Moon illuminating your fifth house of creativity, romance, and leisure, there are plenty of opportunities available for you to let go and have some lighthearted fun. In fact, this is the time to look at whether you are actually enjoying your life and discern what “enjoyment” really means to you. Don’t be afraid to look for joy and pleasure in unexpected places – especially if they involve Piscean themes. Buy some art supplies, even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or canvas. Go dancing, even if you have two left feet, and dance like no one is watching. Pick up that clarinet you haven’t played since the eighth grade, and see if you still remember how to play. Alternatively, simply say yes to childlike fun whenever you have the chance. Say yes when your nephew asks you to play a game of Red Rover in the backyard. Don a tiara and play make-believe with your bestie’s children. Play a card game. Go somewhere offbeat and out of the ordinary for a date. Sign up for the pickleball lessons or the glass-blowing lessons or the ballroom dancing lessons that you keep seeing those flyers for. If life hasn’t felt pleasurable enough lately, consider setting some intentions in this area and start taking small steps in a new direction. Changes made in this part of your life may spark new beginnings you haven’t even dreamed up yet.
Sagittarius Rising
With the New Moon shining on your fourth house of home, family, and emotional security, you’ll have an opportunity in the coming weeks to examine the support systems you rely on to make life work. Are there aspects of your home or family life that need to be repaired, modified, or up-leveled? The answer to this question could be related to relationship dynamics or to the physical home itself. This is a great time to begin home improvement projects of any sort, even if it’s simply rearranging your furniture for better Feng Shui. (Bonus points if this project allows you to beautify or flex some creative muscle!) It’s also possible to decide that you no longer enjoy where you’re living now and start looking to move! On the family front, the fourth house also encompasses our roots, so there is opportunity to foster deeper emotional connections with your elders, like parents or grandparents, and create more space for peace, tranquility, and compassion within your family. Finally, the combination of New Moon energy, Pisces energy, and fourth house energy adds up to a lot of emotion, so don’t be surprised if this lunar cycle gives you all the feels, as well as some opportunities to examine what you need in order to feel secure.
Capricorn Rising
It’s time to flex your brain a bit! With the New Moon activating your third house of thinking, learning, and communication, you may have a sudden desire to explore a fresh topic or stretch your intellect in new and exciting ways. Since the ruler of your third house is Pisces, the more abstract these concepts are, the better. Grab a stack of novels from the library, and set them on your bedside table – then, watch how fast you devour them all! Find a mind-bending Arthouse series on your favorite streaming service, and make time for a good binge session. Visit an art museum and really look at the pieces you’re drawn to without rushing. What gets stirred up for you in that moment? Additionally, since this house also rules communication, you may be given opportunities to look at the effectiveness of your communications or your communication style. Are you conveying the right message(s) to others? Or, are you speaking up for yourself enough and asking for what you want? If the answer is no to either one, there’s plenty of energy available now to begin approaching your interactions in fresh, new ways. Finally, the third house encompasses our siblings, so if you have some, it’s a good time to chat or hang with them.
Aquarius Rising
This New Moon will be illuminating your second house of personal finances and values, so you’ll have a lot of energetic support in the coming weeks around setting financial goals, budgets, and/or looking at new ways to manage your money. The best course of action now is to get clear on what you want, then use those Piscean methods discussed earlier in this newsletter – like detailed visualization, journaling, or drawing – to begin pulling them into your reality. It can also help to define two or three baby steps you can take between now and the full moon that will move you closer to your goals. The current energy could also support a change in perspective on the way you make money altogether. Could a new job or change in profession be in order this year? Is there a side hustle you’re interesting in exploring? If so, the time is right to follow your hunches. Finally, if you’re just not feeling the money vibe right now, you could go a very different route and use this time to bring your working life into greater alignment with your value system and/or build a greater sense of self-worth. Doing so may even “unstick” something, on an energetic level, and allow more prosperity to flow in!
Pisces Rising
This is you’re time to shine, Pisces rising! For the past few weeks, you may have feltlike you were in hibernation mode with the last New Moon activating your 12th house of solitude and completion. But if energy has been low, that’s about to change. The Pisces New Moon will illuminate your first house of self, so you’ll spend this lunation honing in on your identity and how you project yourself into the world. It also marks the beginning of a brand-new, 12-month lunation cycle for you. It’s time to focus on new beginnings and determine what you think you’d like to accomplish and become over the coming year. What is your life’s purpose, and how can you move closer to it now? Are you showing up as authentically as you’d like to be? Are your thoughts, feelings, and actions each day in alignment with your core? Or maybe you’re ready for a more literal type of makeover. Relatively small changes, like a new hair color, an updated wardrobe, or a redesigned personal website, could all be in order right now. Whatever it is you want to be, now is the time to own it. Be authentic and as bold as you wish to be – and trust yourself!
Until next time, happy goal setting!
*Note: On the West Coast of the U.S., the time of the full moon will be 1 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). The standard 3-hour, coast-to-coast time difference will be off for a few hours on this day, as each time zone will “spring forward” to Daylight Savings Time at 2 a.m. local time.
